Shefali Shah’s career has been on a roll in terms of good roles and successful films over the last year. The actor has appeared in several critically acclaimed and commercially successful projects. Many people would expect her success to lead to more good work, but Shefali hinted in a recent interview that this hasn’t happened and that she still expects it to.
Shefali’s performance in Season 2 of Delhi Crime received critical acclaim. She has also received recognition for her performances in films such as Jalsa, Darlings, and Doctor G. She also appeared in the web series “Human,” where her work was recognised once more.
According to the report, Shefali was asked if all of this had resulted in her having her pick of good project roles. I was expecting it, and I am expecting it,” Shefali responded, “but I think what has happened after this year and all the releases is that whatever role they must have thought of me has also stopped, because now they think we cannot go to her with a filler.” I’ve heard from writers and directors that they’re developing material for me, which is fantastic, but it also means I might have to wait a little longer to play the roles I want.”
The actor clarified that she is willing to do minor roles and cameos if they are relevant to the film and have the desired impact. “You might only get a few seconds on screen, but it all depends on how it’s translated.” It is not about length, but about the importance of the character in the film. “I don’t want to be there,” she says. “If the character was important, I would definitely do an ensemble film.”
Shefali won Best Actress at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne this year for her portrayal of a domestic help battling to find the people who hurt her daughter in Jalsa. Vidya Balan also appeared in the film. Doctor G, her first theatrical release in four years, did well at the box office, grossing $30 million in its first six days.
