The trailer for the upcoming fifth season of Netflix’s The Crown appeared on Thursday night. The 1990s-set trailer for the new season focuses on the time when the royals tried to present themselves as a coherent unit despite Princess Diana and Prince (now King) Charles’ marriage falling apart.
The season’s focus seems to be on the time when Princess Diana was at her wit’s end and was compelled to come out and talk about how the British press and the royal family were making her life difficult as she dealt with the duties of being a princess, based on the teaser. In the clip, Prince Philip is heard telling Diana to keep quiet and follow the rules since that’s how things have always been done. Additionally, there are excerpts from Princess Di’s dramatic tell-all interview, in which she discussed her mental health problems at the time and how Prince Charles had been having an affair for the duration of their marriage.
The Crown’s fifth season features Imelda Staunton in the role of Queen Elizabeth II. In the role of The Duke of Edinburgh, Jonathan Pryce Prince Margaret is portrayed by Lesley Manville. Prince Charles is played by Dominic West. Elizabeth Debicki plays Princess Diana.Olivia Williams in the role of Camilla Parker Bowles.
The history of the British royal family is the inspiration for the fictional drama The Crown. It originally appeared on streaming services in 2016. The show, which was produced by Peter Morgan, has won more than 21 Emmy awards and has been praised for its meticulous production design.
The Crown Season 5 will start streaming on November 9.
