6th June 2023, Mumbai : In a unique move, the team behind director Om Raut’s highly anticipated film, Adipurush, has made a special announcement. With just ten days left until its release, the team revealed their plan to reserve one seat for Lord Hanuman in every theater screening the movie. This thoughtful gesture aims to honor the beliefs held by countless individuals.
The Adipurush team expressed their deep-rooted conviction in Lord Hanuman’s omnipresence whenever the Ramayana is recited. To pay homage to this belief, they have decided not to sell the seat reserved for Lord Hanuman in any theater showcasing Prabhas’ remarkable portrayal of Lord Rama in Adipurush. This noteworthy initiative seeks to commemorate the rich history of reverence towards the greatest devotee of Lord Rama.
Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, is set to release on June 16. The film promises to vividly depict the captivating events of the Ramayana, with Prabhas taking on the revered role of Lord Rama.
However, even before its release, Adipurush faced its fair share of challenges. Last year, priests in Ayodhya voiced their concerns and demanded a ban on the film, raising questions about its depiction of Lord Ram, Hanuman, and Ravana. Satyendra Das, the Chief of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, also added his voice to the criticism, stating that the film’s portrayal did not align with the epic.
Interestingly, the criticism did not solely originate from religious organizations. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak joined in, criticizing the film’s teaser and considering it disrespectful towards Hindu deities.
Pathak, in support of the priests, emphasized the importance of heeding their concerns and paying attention to the wisdom of saints. He acknowledged that films have, at times, hurt Hindu sentiments and highlighted the vital role played by saints and akharas in safeguarding and preserving Indian culture. The pride in their culture was evident in his words, reflecting the significance attached to these beliefs.
