Queens of Controversies
Rakhi Sawant, The Controversy Queen , recently stirred up the political pot with her comical yet intriguing remarks during a roadside encounter with the media.
Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with her trademark flamboyance, Rakhi exclaimed, “Waah Modi Ji, Waah!” She amusingly suggested herself as a “parachute candidate” and entertained the media with her wit.
What did she say?
Recently, Rakhi Sawant encountered the media on the road and exclaimed, “Waah Modi Ji, waah!” (addressing the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, of the Bharatiya Janata Party). She then mentioned, “Kabhi Kangana, kabhi Rupali Ganguly,” as they have both joined the BJP. Kangana joined during the Lok Sabha elections in Mandi, and recently, Rupali Ganguly also joined the BJP. Rakhi remarked, “Did you not see this Rakhi, Modi Ji? Did you not see this Rakhi Sawant, Modi Ji?” She humorously suggested, “Why not make me a parachute candidate? Drop me from the top and let me land below.”
Rakhi’s Electoral Preference: Mandi
She then asked some media persons, “Where do you think I should contest elections from?” One media person jokingly replied, “Andheri,” while another chuckled. Another suggested, “You should contest from Lokhandwala.” Rakhi retorted, “I don’t want to stand from Andheri, I want to stand from Mandi this time. Modi Ji, this time please give two tickets from Mandi.”
Social Media Support for Rakhi
One media person mentioned that on social media, people have voted for Rakhi Sawant to see her stand in elections. Rakhi replied, “That’s right! I’m more famous than Kangana, even.”
Rakhi’s Satirical Take on Elections
She then inquired, “Why are elections fought, tell me?” One media person said, “For the trust of the public.” Rakhi countered, “No, but elections are fought to fill the houses of the wealthy.”
Kangana Debut in Politics
On March 24, 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared Kangana Ranaut as their candidate for the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. Expressing her gratitude on social media, Ranaut expressed her deep sense of honour and joy at officially affiliating with the party. Known for her outspoken support for the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ranaut’s announcement marked a significant moment in her political journey.
Rupali Ganguly Joined BJP
Actress Rupali Ganguly, widely recognized for her portrayal in the popular daily soap “Anupamaa,” recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party headquarters in New Delhi. Addressing the media during a press conference at the Delhi headquarters, Ganguly expressed her conviction, stating, “As citizens, we all need to actively participate in these elections. By the blessings of Mahakaal and Matarani, I am able to meet and connect with people through my art. So, when I see this mahayagya of development, I feel that I should also take part in this.”
Discussions Among People
Indeed, the recent entry of Rupali Ganguly into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sparked discussions among various circles, with some speculating it as a strategic move by the party to expand its reach to households. Ganguly’s association with the immensely popular show “Anupamaa” has garnered her widespread recognition and a loyal fan base, making her transition into politics noteworthy. This isn’t the first instance where a television actress has ventured into politics. Reflecting back to August 2011, Smriti Irani, known for her role as Tulsi Virani in the show “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” made headlines when she entered parliament as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. Irani’s subsequent contest against Rahul Gandhi in the 2014 general elections in the Amethi constituency further underscored the influence of television personalities in the political arena.
