11th July 2023,Mumbai: Baahubali in 2015 changed Indian cinema forever. India knows the power of movies produced in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam (Southern Belt) and knows how much potential there is for movies. Thus began the obsession with “Pan-Indian cinema”. Since then, almost 15 movies have been tagged as “One Movie”. Only recently – Yash’s KGF franchise, Brahmastra and more recently Adipurush. So what is “pan-Indian” cinema? Is that word (and idea) dead?
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh on Success of Movies
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh “After the success of ‘Baahubali’, ‘Pushpa’, ‘RRR’… these films deserve to be pan-Indian films. The Hindi version of Kartikeya 2 is also doing well. Many producers are thinking ‘why don’t you try your luck’… When you make a movie for the audience, the budget goes up, and if it’s successful, it’s more profitable.” 2018 Malayalam One by Vikrant Rona from ten Kichcha Sudeep and last year’s Kabzaa Tovino Thomas is the most popular song in Hindi but not available in Hindi. “Successful ‘pan-Indian cinema’ is at hand. But you can’t stop anyone from thinking big. During the Covid-19 quarantine, people are watching a lot of South Indian movies where actors are making waves in other regions at night.” Adarsh added it.
Manoj Desai, manager of G7 Multiplex was disappointed
Manoj Desai, former producer and now operating manager of G7 Multiplex, said he was disappointed by the hype surrounding this opportunity. “Aisi films chalengi bhi nahi. If your content isn’t bad, why would people watch it? Just try hard, film India ko pasand nahi aayegi,” he said. The previous words of Hindi are the principle of pan-Indian cinema.
Business Expert Atul Mohan and Producer Anand Pandit on content of Pan India Films.
Business expert Atul Mohan explained: ““Pan India term ek marketing tool hai, nothing more than that today. Producers feel jahaan itna paisa lag gaya hai, vahaan dubbing pe thoda laga dete hain. But it is actually a film which wins audiences upon it’s release, release se pehle nahi bol sakte aap kisi bhi film ko yeh. Makers just think now ‘bada budget, ek north ka actor, south ka actor, aur action film, bas isko pan India bol ke bechte hain’ Aise nahi hota, content bhi toh ho!” “This movie will appeal to both Hindi and non-Hindi belts,” said producer Anand Pandit, who presented the Hindi version of “Kabzaa.” “I agree with some of the producers who asked, without knowing the need, demand or appeal, just declare ki unki film pan Indian hai, ek obsession hai,” he said.
Actors On Pan-Indian
FilmsMany Indian movie actors – Raveena Tandon, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone have recently been invited to shoot in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. RRR played Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in minor roles. Will Pan-India mark the northern belt off the checklist? And vice versa – Nagarjuna in “Brahma” and even Prabhas as Lord Ram in “Adipurush”.
Ayan Mukherji On Brahmastra
In fact, Brahmastra’s director Ayan Mukerji once “entered the Brahmastra world… And it enhanced our dream of creating a true pan-Indian cinema experience. “I think the ‘Pan-India’ hyperbole is good,” said Tandon, who starred in ‘KGF 2’. Today, all of our industries are united in one massive force. There is no difference between north and south in the movie. An Indian movie is one that crosses all languages and barriers, but is essentially Indian. When I finished KGF 2 and was shooting another movie in Rajasthan, people came to me and said “KGF KGF”, I was surprised that people in that state love Kannada movies. How great?
“KD Devil” star Shilpa Shetty Kundra added, “The difference between KD and my regular Indian movies is the lack of lines. Actors with Tamil, Telugu, Kannada heroes.”
