27th March, Mumbai: Shikhar Dhawan, the seasoned opener of Team India, has acknowledged that he was unable to recognize the warning signs when he was smitten with love, resulting in the breakdown of his marriage. He has taken ownership of his past mistakes and emphasised that the ordeal has taught him valuable lessons. As a result, he has become more astute.
In 2012, Shikhar Dhawan got married to Aesha Mukerji, an amateur kickboxer based in Melbourne. Mukerji, who was 12 years older than Dhawan, had two daughters from her previous marriage. However, the couple separated in September 2021.
It is crucial for young individuals to gain experience by being in relationships. Rushing into marriage based on emotional impulses should be avoided. Instead, it is advisable to spend a considerable amount of time with the person, at least a couple of years, to determine whether there is compatibility in cultural backgrounds and whether they share a mutual fondness for each other’s company.
Shikhar Dhawan, who is currently going through a divorce case with Ayesha Mukherjee, is not included in the Indian national cricket team at present. The last time he played cricket was during India’s tour of Bangladesh in the previous year. However, he is set to lead the Punjab Kings team in the upcoming 16th season of the Indian Premier League.
Shikhar Dhawan and Ayesha Mukherjee got to know each other through a social media platform and eventually got married in October 2012. Ayesha, who is 12 years older than Shikhar, gave birth to their first child named Zorawar in 2014.
It is unclear when exactly the differences between the couple began to surface. However, Ayesha confirmed their divorce on her Instagram account in September 2021. Although the divorce proceedings are ongoing, there seems to be some tension between the two.
Despite the circumstances, Dhawan has chosen not to blame anyone and has taken responsibility for the fallout of his marriage. He admitted that his lack of experience in personal relationships during his early 20s as a professional cricketer made it difficult for him to recognize the warning signs in his marriage.
During an interview with Sports Tak, Shikhar Dhawan acknowledged that he takes responsibility for the failure of his marriage, as the ultimate decision to stay together or not lies with the individuals involved. Instead of blaming others, he admitted his lack of knowledge in dealing with personal relationships, and he is now undergoing a divorce case.
