29th February,2024, Mumbai: He continues by saying that people are now more willing to discuss their worries and mental health issues.
Mental health and despair have gained prominence after the Covid outbreak
“I think mental health and despair have gained prominence after the Covid outbreak and the subsequent lockdowns. It was certainly a difficult and dismal time during the epidemic, with the general sense of sorrow owing to the many deaths and the confinement at home. But since COVID, I’ve seen a positive change in attitudes towards talking about mental health. It appears that people are becoming less afraid to talk about their mental health problems and seek professional assistance, suggesting that the stigma associated with these disorders is fading. There is a benefit to this shift, he argues, as it breaks the taboo around talking about mental health and encourages individuals to do so honestly.
Mental health subjects are no longer taboo
Such subjects are no longer taboo, he continues. “Yes, things have changed, and it’s encouraging to see that talking about mental health issues is no longer seen as a taboo subject. These days, mental health concerns are not only widely acknowledged but also taken seriously, especially by youngsters. The next generation in our nation is actively raising awareness about mental health on a variety of channels, including social media. I think it’s imperative that everyone participate in this discussion. Since some people still find it difficult to address their mental health issues, he argues, “we should all work to promote candid conversations and raise awareness in order to foster an environment where everyone feels supported.”
It’s importance that we express our thoughts and emotions to the appropriate individuals
The actor does, however, caution that we should be cautious about who we disclose our private matters to. “I think that occasionally we have a tendency to overshare and expose ourselves to the wrong people. It’s critical that we express our thoughts and emotions to the appropriate individuals—those we can rely on and who are able to offer insightful solutions. It is more than just finding someone to listen; it involves selecting people who can provide helpful guidance and who actually care about you. Establishing limits is crucial; in order to avoid possible emotional harm, we must be careful about how much information we provide. Maintaining emotional well-being requires us to be conscious of our feelings, regulate our amount of disclosure, and know who to confide in. He declares, “I firmly think that despite the suffering in this world, we should strive to be the reason people cling to the hope that there are still kind people in this world.”
How he maintains his mental health
When you ask him how he maintains his mental health, he responds, “My daughter is my happy space and mood lifter. She gives me comfort when I’m feeling low, stressed, or depressed.” There’s a distinct kind of comfort when I’m with family and friends since talking to the proper people offers ideas and support in addition to a listening ear. I also make an effort to avoid being around folks that emotionally drain me. I travel to preserve my general well-being and prioritise my mental health by practicing meditation.
