An R-rated romance comedy starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell has fans giddy with anticipation.
Before the cast left for Australia to begin filming, the project, titled Anyone But You, was initially revealed in January 2023. Since then, there have been numerous glimpses of the cast’s close relationship with one another while filming. Sweeney shared many images in April 2023 of Powell and her touring Sydney with other cast and crew members.
Powell and Sweeney recently shared some information about the movie with fans at CinemaCon 2023 in Las Vegas, despite the fact that the plot’s specifics have been kept a secret. They explained that the story centres around “two people who hate each other.”
While Sweeney joked that the Top Gun: Maverick actor’s character is a true “a——,” Powell described Sydney’s persona as “a real nightmare” to the audience assembled at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
And where could a nightmare and an a—– be placed more romantically than on the opposite side of the globe? Powell teased the movie.
Sweeney is well-known for her serious performances in films like Euphoria and The Voyeurs, whereas Powell has experience in the romantic comedy genre thanks to her previous appearance in the popular Netflix movie Set It Up with Zoey Deutch.
Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Alexandra Shipp, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Darren Barnet, and Hadley Robinson are just a few of the notable actors who appear with Powell and Sweeney in the movie.
Will Gluck, who previously directed Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis and Easy A starring Emma Stone and Penn Badgley, will helm the movie. Gluck is no stranger to the romantic comedy genre.
Ilana Wolpert’s script, which Gluck is revising, serves as the basis for the project. The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+ is Wolpert’s most well-known accomplishment.
The official trailer hasn’t been made available online yet, however the first look at the movie was displayed at CinemaCon 2023.
