In India, Avatar 2 by James Cameron is now the most anticipated Hollywood film. The movie is expected to break box office records, but given the hype, no one is really sure how far it will succeed. Given the craze in the Indian market, the manufacturers are now asking distributors for outrageous fees, and below is everything you need to know.
The follow-up to the 2009 film Avatar is titled Avatar: The Way Of Water. The movie, which came out 13 years ago, broke all box office records in India and brought in a staggering total of over 100 crores. With a total worldwide take of $2.92 billion, the prequel is undoubtedly the highest-grossing movie of all time.
The anticipation for Avatar 2 is palpably great in India, and the prequel’s recent re-release performed well. The producers are asking for some blockbuster prices for the theatrical rights in light of this. According to a report on TrackTollywood.com, the producers are asking distributors for 100 crores in exchange for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana theatrical rights.
Even films with top stars find it hard to convince buyers at such pricing and here, Avatar 2 is a film coming from Hollywood. As of now, the distributors are in a confused state about whether to buy theatrical rights or not. Let’s see if the makers cut down their pricing or if the buyers shed the quoted amount from their pocket.
Meanwhile, Avatar 2 is scheduled to release in India on 16th December 2022. The film is helmed by James Cameron and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore and others.
