This dazzling award show brought together a splendid celebration of Indian Cinema at the International Indian Film Academy and Awards (IIFA), in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and Miral, the leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences in Abu Dhabi. The grand event showcased a breathtaking fusion of fun, glamour, mesmerizing performances, and delightful surprises, all within the same venue. Presented by the dynamic duo of Farah Khan and Rajkummar Rao, Sobha Realty IIFA Rocks transformed into a mesmerizing spectacle of music and entertainment.
IIFA 2023: Night to behold!
The evening unfolded with spellbinding performances by renowned artists such as Amit Trivedi, Badshah, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sukhbir Singh, Palak Muchhal, and Iulia Vantur. These music maestros delivered electrifying performances, captivating the audience and demonstrating the musical prowess of the Indian film industry.Palak Muchhal kickstarted the musical extravaganza with a captivating dance performance, followed by Farah Khan, who infused her own dance moves into the mix. Rajkummar Rao took the stage, grooving to the beats of “Main Hoon Na,” recreating a memorable scene from the iconic film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which delighted the crowd and sparked a lively conversation about friendship.
The evening further unfolded with power-packed performances by Sunidhi Chauhan, Badshah, Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh, and Nora Fatehi, leaving the audience enthralled. Amit Trivedi mesmerized everyone with his enchanting voice, accompanied by Arun Kamat, Devendra Palse, Meghna Mishra, and Yashita Sharma. Sukhbir Singh and Iulia Vantur had everyone dancing to the vibrant beats of the dhol. And to top it all off, the evening reached a thrilling climax with the electrifying performance by none other than Nucleya. he IIFA Rocks event also recognized the winners in the Technical Categories, including Cinematography, Screenplay, Dialogue, Editing, Choreography, Sound Design, Sound Mixing, Background Score, and Special Effects (Visuals). This evening celebrated the remarkable achievements of Indian cinema at the highest level and honored the deserving winners with the iconic IIFA statuette.
Adding to the allure of IIFA Rocks was a special collection showcased by the renowned designer Manish Malhotra. The collection seamlessly blended “old world charm meets the new world,” creating a breakthrough and imaginative fashion experience. The showstoppers for the evening were none other than the Bollywood favorites Salman Khan and Nora Fatehi, who graced the ramp with their charisma and style. Here is the list of winners:
- Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, took home three awards. Sudeep Chatterjee was honored for his exceptional cinematography, while Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashishtha won the award for Best Screenplay. Utkarshini Vashishtha and Prakash Kapadia were recognized for their brilliant dialogue writing.
- Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, a much-anticipated sequel, also bagged two awards. Bosco Caesar won the award for Best Choreography for the film’s title track, showcasing his creativity and talent. Mandar Kulkarni received the award for Best Sound Design, contributing to the overall audio experience of the movie.
- The gripping thriller Drishyam 2 secured one award in the category of Best Editing, which was skillfully done by Sandeep Francis.
- Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated film, Brahmastra: Part One—Shiva, won the award for Best Special Effects (Visual). The incredible visual effects were brought to life by DNEG and Redefine.
- The dynamic duo of Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in Vikram Vedha earned them the award for Best Background Score, composed by Sam CS. The captivating score added depth and intensity to the film.
- The star-studded cast of Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi, and Radhika Apte in Monica O My Darling received the award for Best Sound Mixing. Gunjan A Sah, Boloy Kumar Doloi, and Rahul Karpe were recognized for their exceptional work in sound mixing, enhancing the overall auditory experience of the film.
