Human trafficking is becoming a bigger issue in the US, according to Somy Ali, who oversees the organisation No More Tears. According to her, males who marry foreign women, bring them to the US, and then sell them are a common method of doing it.
Somy Ali talks about the increasing case of human trafficking in US
Sadly, this has spread among South Asians as a frequent trend, and they are even referred to as mail order brides. The horrifying thing is that, despite the parents of the young girls thinking they have struck gold, this is totally at odds with their worldview. Their daughters are sold for more money than those who have actively pursued previous relationships, especially those who are prohibited from dating. These women are brought by the men from different nations, where they are sold to human traffickers for sex or labour. Some girls are 16 years old,” the woman claims.
“It’s beyond devastating as it’s literally destroying these women’s lives,” she continues, “and things will only get worse since human trafficking is the largest growing criminal enterprise in the world.” Given that medications can be used once and that individuals can be sold repeatedly, it has even surpassed the drug industry.
Somy Ali shares few cases of human trafficking she encountered in the US
Speaking about an incident, she states, “Our worst case involved a five-year-old boy whose father had first sexually assaulted him, which is also referred to as an initiation stage in the horrifying world of trafficking. Subsequently, the father began offering his own son for sex with his male friends, which ultimately resulted in the child being involved in a very dangerous child sex trafficking ring.” In that sting operation, we were able to save 12 kids, and it was devastating and extremely traumatising to watch the kids realise what they had gone through.
She states that we must address this right away and that education will be very beneficial. Before these girls are married off into distant countries where they aren’t even sure where they are geographically, law enforcement should exercise caution, information, and above all, education. In the end, parents must confirm the legitimacy of these websites. Even though it may sound archaic, if I were a parent, I would want to marry my daughter through a reference from an extended family member. Knowing now rather than later that your child is being abused and trafficked is preferable, the speaker claims.
Somy Ali’s request to the parents of the young girl children
“I ask the parents to please be cautious about these sites and where they are sending their daughters,” the speaker continues. Above all, keep in close contact with their daughters since cutting off all communication is a serious red signal. That indicates right away that something is wrong. Therefore, it’s important to exercise caution, check the websites, and stay in constant communication with your daughters.
