24th June 2023,Mumbai: A fresh drug scandal has the Telugu film industry in a state of alarm. In the course of the investigation, some well-known names connected to the film and television business have surfaced. Producer of Telugu films KP Chowdary is one of the main suspects in this drug case. The critically praised movie Kabali, starring superstar Rajinikanth, was earlier released in Telugu by KP Chowdary. Additionally, he worked in the distribution of Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh and Mahesh Babu’s 2013 action drama Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.
KP Chowdary was reportedly detained by the Goa police in relation to the narcotics controversy. According to reports, he was attempting to sell 111.45 grammes of cocaine to Hyderabad. While in Goa, he purchased the cocaine from a narcotics dealer with ties to Nigeria. According to additional reports, the Telugu producer was detained by the Goa police for two days while being questioned. KP Chowdary supplied cocaine to various celebrities and political groups, according to the interrogation results.
According to reports, Tollywood actress Ashu Reddy and Master actress Surekha Vani have surfaced in the digging scandal. After an old photo of Surekha Vani kissing KP Chowdary at a party went viral, rumours started to fly. Users of social media said that Surekha Vani looked inebriated.
Ashu Reddy, in the meantime, has denied any involvement in the drug affair. In a lengthy social media message, the actress recently denied being involved in the issue, writing, “To whomsoever interested… Some media outlets are spreading a variety of untruths about my connections to certain people. If it comes to that, I will vehemently condemn it and inform the appropriate parties of the reality.”
According to a statement made by the police, call records from KP Chowdary’s mobile were obtained, showing that the producer had chats with well-known Tollywood stars and influential politicians. “KP Chowdary spoke on the phone with an actress who participated in a Telugu reality programme hundreds of times, and another actress who had done items songs in Telugu,” read the statement, as per a report.
The official statement also revealed that KP Chowdary had sold medicines to 12 individuals, including some famous people and young women. Following the retrieval of the bank account information, the authorities discovered 11 additional questionable transactions made by the buyers. The funds were deposited into KP Chowdary’s account.
