31th August 2023, Mumbai: “Dulquer Salmaan’s action-packed venture, “King Of Kotha,” which hit theaters on August 24th, has been making waves among action movie enthusiasts. However, the film seems to be facing a decline in collections as it progresses into its seventh day of release. Despite the initial excitement surrounding the film, its performance at the box office has been on a constant fall.
King of Kotha Budget & Promo
Starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, “King Of Kotha” is directed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy. This film is hailed as Dulquer Salmaan’s most ambitious project to date, with a budget of around 50 crores. The movie enjoyed nationwide promotions that heightened expectations among viewers eagerly awaiting the action-packed entertainer.
Onam adding Excitement
Upon its release, it became apparent that the film’s hype may not have done justice to its actual storyline. Despite hitting theaters during the festive occasion of Onam on August 24th, “King Of Kotha” received a mixed response at the box office. Nevertheless, the film managed to garner a decent performance in its initial seven days, raking in an approximate India net collection of Rs 16.66 crore.
King of Kotha BO Collections
On its seventh day, specifically Wednesday, “King Of Kotha” earned Rs 1.11 crore in total. The breakdown of this collection includes 0.87 lakhs from the Malayalam version, 0.15 lakhs from the Telugu version, and 0.09 lakhs from the Tamil version. Despite its efforts, the film continues to face stiff competition from other Malayalam releases during this festive season, such as Nivin Pauly’s “RDX” and “RDX,” which featured Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese, and Neeraj Madhav.
Dulquer Salmaan Shares Thoughts on King of Kotha
He not only stars in the film but also played a crucial role as a producer alongside his production company Wayfarer Films and co-producer Zee Studios. Discussing his dual role, Dulquer shared his thoughts during a recent media interaction. He expressed, ‘My team and I love challenges, but my family suggested I take a break from producing the next film due to the stress level.’ Despite the challenges, “King Of Kotha” marks Dulquer Salmaan’s seventh production endeavor and his first foray into a period action-drama in his illustrious decade-long career.
As the film’s journey at the box office continues, its performance highlights the complexity of the movie industry, where audience expectations, competition from other releases, and critical reception all play a significant role in determining a film’s success. While “King Of Kotha” may have encountered a rocky start, its journey in the cinematic world is a reminder of the unpredictable nature of entertainment.”
