16th April 2023, Mumbai: According to media reports, Honey Singh revealed that he has faced difficulties while creating music for Bollywood. He shared an incident where Shah Rukh Khan approached him to compose a song for the movie Chennai Express and asked for something similar to “Angreji Beat,” which was a popular track.
However, Honey Singh refused to make a song identical to it and instead created “Lungi Dance” with Shah Rukh Khan’s essence in mind. Initially, Shah Rukh Khan was uncertain about the song and took three weeks to make a decision about using it in the film.
Following its inclusion in Chennai Express, “Lungi Dance” became a chartbuster. The track was played during the end credits of the comedy-drama, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. During the film’s release, Shah Rukh Khan spoke to PTI and shared that he felt the song was a fitting tribute to Rajinikanth, whom he admired greatly as a fan. Deepika Padukone also enthusiastically agreed to be a part of the song, being a huge fan of Rajinikanth herself. In Shah Rukh Khan’s opinion, “Lungi Dance” captured the fun, joyful spirit and the unique style of Rajinikanth.
Honey Singh expressed his admiration for Akshay Kumar, who he feels gives him the freedom to create music in his own unique style. According to Honey Singh, Akshay Kumar encourages him to stay true to his creative instincts, saying, “You do your thing, create what you want, and I will choose what I like.” However, Honey Singh feels that many other people in Bollywood place too many restrictions on his artistic vision. Therefore, he has decided to not focus on Bollywood for this year and the next, except for cases where he has good relationships with certain individuals.
