BTS’ Jin was embarrassed that his song “Super Tuna” had become so popular among the ARMY, but he never expected the song to top the Billboard charts. The song, as well as his other two solos, “Abyss” and “Tonight,” are now available on major streaming services. All three songs debuted at the top of Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart this week. “Super Tuna,” “Abyss,” and “Tonight” debuted at Nos. 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Furthermore, his songs with V, “It’s Definitely You” and “Yours,” charted at Nos. 9 and 12, respectively.
ARMY is amused by “Super Tuna’s” success, as Jin stated last year that it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. “Will Jin never speak to us again?” wondered one fan. “Jin will never forgive us!” exclaimed another. In the song, Jin dances while singing about tuna. This exploded into TikTok trends last year, with numerous fans making countless edits to the songs. “No, why are you doing the Super Tuna Challenge when you have so many songs to choose from?” a humiliated Jin wrote on Weverse. If the situation becomes more serious, the company may wish to record a second verse.
Jin would be the first of the septet to be drafted into the military. The vocalist recently released “Astronaut,” a collaboration with Coldplay, as a farewell gift to ARMY. The song was an emotional and nostalgic piece in which he described his relationship with fans and how it had changed him as a person. He also performed the song with Coldplay at a concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Meanwhile, other BTS members are working on solo projects, the most recent being RM, who recently confirmed collaborations with Pharrell Williams. The album’s release date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be at the end of November.
