10th May 2023, Mumbai: In the Tamil film business, Dhanush has grown to be the favoured choice of directors over time. One of the most adaptable actors in Indian cinema, he can effortlessly transform himself into any role.
Apart of being an amazingly talented actor, Dhanush sings occasionally for his own films. Yuvan Shankar Raja, the film’s composer, first introduced him as a playback vocalist in Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan. They then worked together once again on the Pudhupettai film directed by their brother Selvaraghavan. In the films Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna, directed by Selvaraghavan, he sung additional songs. In the former, he appeared alongside his wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth. In 2011, “Why This Kolaveri Di” was made available on YouTube as a single from the soundtrack of Aishwarya Dhanush’s debut feature film 3, which she also directed. The song’s video rose to the top of Indian search results.
Let’s look at the emotionally taxing and unusual jobs that influenced his career as he completes 21 years in the business.
“Asuran”
The Tamil director Vetrimaaran directed the periodic action drama, which is based on the Kilvenmani tragedy in 1968. In addition to Dhanush, who played the lead, Manju Warrier made her Tamil film debut with this one. Sivasaami was played by Dhanush, and his wife was portrayed by Warrier. He won a National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Asuran.
“Aadukalam”
Dhanush was chosen by Vetrimaaran to play the lead in his 2011 film Aadukalam long before Asuran. Taapsee Pannu made her start in Tamil long before she entered the Hindi film industry. At the National Film Awards, Aadukalam received numerous nominations, and it ended up winning at least six of them, including Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Film.
“Pudhu Pettai”
Pudhu Pettai received mixed reviews and a respectable opening weekend at the box office in 2006 when it was initially released. But eventually, it turned into a cult favourite. One of Dhanush’s most emotionally taxing films is this crime actioner. It depicted him as a student living in a slum who develops into one of Chennai’s most feared gangsters in order to survive.
“Kaadhal Kondein”
The 2003 movie, which starred Dhanush as an orphan boy raised by a church’s father, is regarded as a career-defining work for him. He is a brilliant introvert who applies for engineering admission on the basis of merit. Dhanush displayed a whirlwind of emotions in this romantic psychological thriller. He joined the A-list of Tamil Actors as a result of his performance.
“Velaiilla Pattadhari”
Velraj’s first film as a director is titled Velaiilla Pattadhari or VIP. It was released in 2014 and portrayed Dhanush as a young man who spent four years looking for work. The challenges that Dhanush’s character encountered both before and after finding work form the basis of the movie. Amala Paul played the female lead. Its follow-up was made available in 2017 by Soundarya Rajinikanth.
“The Gray Man”
This movie marked Dhanush first stint in Hollywood. Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans may feature in Netflix’s costly “The Grey Man,” directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, but it cleverly included Tamil movie star Dhanush as a scene-stealing sparring partner for Gosling’s CIA assassin who temporarily tries to outperform him late in the movie.
