What is ISPL
The seeds of a private tennis ball cricket league were planted in 2021 by a talent hunt in Dharavi, the biggest slum in Asia, among several notable participants in the sport. Inspired by the skill on exhibit—some of whom went on to play club cricket in Mumbai—Amol Kale, president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), devised a strategy to move these cricket players from the pavement to the stadium. The outcome is a 10-over tennis ball competition called the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL).
Celebrities graced the opening ceremony at Wankhede Stadium. On Nattu Nattu , Sachin Tendulkar, Boman Irani, Akshay Kumar, Suriya, and Ram Charan danced.
The Oscar-winning song “Naatu Naatu” from the film RRR was danced to with great energy during the inaugural ceremony in Srinagar by actor and Falcon Risers Hyderabad owner Ram Charan. Social media users were captivated by videos of his incredible maneuvers, which created an exciting atmosphere for the tournament.
