10th June 2023,Mumbai: In the much-loved film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, Salman Khan took on the second lead character of Aman, revealing an interesting backstory behind his decision to join the project. Recently, renowned choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan shared a fascinating fact during her debut on the dance reality show “India’s Best Dancer.” She disclosed that due to Salman Khan’s limited availability, his look-alike performed the majority of the parts in the popular song “Sajan Ji Ghar Aaye.”
Farah Khan, in a promotional clip, can be seen conversing with the dancer who portrayed Salman’s double in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.” Expressing her admiration, she exclaimed, “Ritji bahut cute tha yar” (Ritji was incredibly cute). Farah further revealed that Ritji filled in for Salman, who could only spare a few hours for the shooting. Ritji flawlessly executed the first part of the song “Sajan Ji Ghar Aaye,” with Farah capturing wide, top, and back shots to ensure continuity.
During the performance, Farah received a surprise call from the original dancers of the iconic song “Chaiyya Chaiyya.” Excitedly, she continued narrating the story behind “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and the delightful making of the “Sajan Ji Ghar Aaye” song. Sony, in its trailer, asked the viewers, “Toh aapko kaisi lagi ‘Sajanji’ ke peeche ki ye kahani?” (How did you find the story behind the making of the ‘Sajanji’ song?) In 2021, director Karan Johar revealed the reason behind Salman Khan’s portrayal of Aman in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” while discussing the incident on “Indian Idol 12.” Karan shared that he approached several actors for the role, but none of them were willing to take on the second lead alongside Shah Rukh Khan. However, when Karan expressed his difficulty in finding a suitable actor to Salman at a party, Salman responded with enthusiasm, saying, “You have to be crazy to do this film, and I am that person.”
Later, Karan read the first half of the script to Salman, who decided to come on board despite not having performed the part of Aman yet. Emphasizing that his decision was not influenced by his father’s presence in the film, Salman remarked, “Kya fark padta hai” (What difference does it make). What truly matters is the connection I have with your father. Thus, Salman Khan’s involvement in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” was driven by personal rapport rather than familial ties.
