20th April 2023, Mumbai: Pamela Chopra, the wife of the legendary Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra and mother of filmmaker Aditya Chopra and actor Uday Chopra, passed away today, April 20, at a Mumbai hospital. She was 74 years old at the time of her death.
It has been reported that Pamela died as a result of illnesses related to her advanced age. She had been receiving medical care at Lilavati hospital in Mumbai for the last 15 days, during which time doctors had to place her on a ventilator. However, despite their efforts, her condition continued to worsen and she ultimately passed away on Thursday.
On Thursday morning, her family members were present as she was cremated.
An official statement was issued by the Chopra family stating that Pamela Chopra, aged 74, passed away this morning. The family informed that her cremation took place at 11 am today in Mumbai. They expressed gratitude for the prayers received and requested privacy during this moment of deep sadness and reflection.
Condolences were extended to the Chopra family by numerous celebrities grieving the passing of Pamela.
Pamela Chopra, who was an accomplished Indian playback singer and also established herself as a film writer and producer, was the wife of the renowned filmmaker Yash Chopra. The couple got married in 1970 through an arranged marriage, after their families were introduced by a mutual friend.
Pamela’s melodious voice graced several hit films, including ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Noorie’, ‘Kaala Patthar’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’. Apart from being a singer, she also showcased her talent as a writer for the movie ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, and as a dress designer for films such as ‘Silsila’ and ‘Sawaal’.
