7th May 2023 Mumbai: Neena Gupta is eager to discover South cinema: “I want to work together with Mani Ratnam.” The Badhaai Ho actress’ most recent movie, Vadh, has received a lot of positive reviews.
Famous actress Neena Gupta, whose 2018 film Badhaai Ho marked a turnaround in her career, feels that she is in the best stage of her professional life because “there is a never-ending desire to play exciting roles,” buoyed by all the positive reviews and accolades her most recent Netflix film Vadh has received. In fact, Mani Ratnam, whose most recent epic historical action adventure film Ponniyin Selvan 2 has been making headlines, has indicated a wish to work with the actress.
Neena stated, “I have roughly eight projects, and every role is distinct, in an interview with PTI. It differs from the work I previously did as a supporting actor. Now I’m the main character. There is an obligation to support the film’s weight. This is incredible. Sometimes, whether it is a dream or reality, I find it hard to believe.
Next, Neena the actress will appear in three highly anticipated online series: R Balki’s short in Lust Stories 2, Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino, and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley. The pipeline also includes projects like Pachhattar Ka Chhora, Baa, Ishq-E-Nadaan, and Sabun.
The 63-year-old actress said, “Many,” when asked if she had any interest in exploring other genres. “I still want to write action, love stories, horror, and a lot of other things. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be working with many folks I never imagined I would.
However, I would love to work on some south Indian films, such as those directed by Mani Ratnam, because they are completely different.”
The Shiv Shastri Balboa actress stated this when discussing how women have been portrayed on television recently: “Earlier a woman was solely (seen) as a mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, or aunt since this was happening in real life. However, jobs created for women today reflect the fact that they are employed (and have agency). I consider myself extremely lucky to be cast in such a variety of interesting and important parts.
Her family comedy-drama Goodbye, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Madanna, is slated to have its television premiere in the meantime.
