Together, Kajol and Karan Johar appear in a new video where they play pranks on each other while promoting food. The two have been longtime friends and collaborators. Actor Kajol and director Karan Johar have been friends since they were young, and Kajol even acted in Karan’s first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).
The food advertisement shows the director attempting to conjure up a supper for a waiting Kajol in his home while wearing pyjamas. She quips, “Will you be able to make it without star kids,” in response to his request for soup.

And Karan responds, “You are also a star kid,” in response. Kajol, upset, shrugs aside the response. Tanuja, a performer, and Shomu Mukherjee, a filmmaker, are the parents of Kajol. Both her grandma Shobana Samarth and aunt Nutan were performers.
When Karan finally hands Kajol the bowl of soup, the actor offers some cheeky but ostensibly helpful advice. “Now produce your films like this too, without any star kids,” she exclaims. The filmmaker nervously laughs along with her.
While making fun of the filmmaker’s long-standing reputation as the industry’s leading example of nepotism. In his movies, he has used star children such as Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday, and many others. He’s also been charged with encouraging nepotism in the business.
