Jacqueline Fernandez will appear before the Delhi Court in connection with the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case, as we previously reported. Following the actress’ recent release on interim bail, the court requested a response from the ED regarding the actress’ bail plea. The Enforcement Directorate has provided their statement, according to the most recent development on that front, and it claims that the actress was uncooperative and attempted to depart the country to avoid being investigated.
Despite Jacqueline Fernandez’s repeated claims that she was a victim and a witness in the case, the ED identified her as an accused in a chargesheet that was presented. The actress was also questioned about her role and relationship with Sukesh Chandrashekhar for more than eight hours. The ED claimed that the actress had tried to tamper with the evidence and even deleted data from her phone in the most recent statement provided in response to Jacqueline’s plea. She was not helping the authorities with their investigation, the ED stated. They further claimed that the actress was planning to leave the country and was on “lookout.”
Coming to the case, Jacqueline was accused of being an accomplice in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs.200 crore extortion case. As per the ED, the actress received gifts worth Rs. 7 crores which included luxury items as well as financial benefits for her family, from the proceeds of crime. In an earlier chargesheet submitted by the ED, they had maintained that the actress was also aware of the nefarious activities of Chandrashekhar and continued to stay in touch with the conman. On the other hand, Jacqueline, after receiving the interim bail, had alleged that she is one of his victims and not his accomplice.
