Midday Meeal is a social drama film released on 14 October which stars Ranvir Shorey. Ranvir threw his opinion on the boycott trend towards Bollywood on social media in an recent interview. He also opened up about the factor that affects the film at the box office according to him. He said that People (Actors) should not cry and shout about ‘some boycott’ if their film ism’t good on the first place. He also added that they should feel ashamed of their films if if isn’t good enough and doesn’t perform well.
Laal Singh Chaddha, an Aamir Khan-starring movie that recently struggled at the box office, was criticised by some for being the victim of boycott calls prompted by Aamir’s past statements. Online users claimed that the movie, which starred Kareena Kapoor, failed because the audience didn’t like its message. Like Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, a number of other recent Hindi movies bombed at the box office. Raksha Bandhan’s first week box office receipts were roughly 37.50 crore, while Laal Singh Chaddha made 49 crore in seven days at the domestic box office, despite having big stars and enormous budgets.
Now, Ranvir said to ETimes in response to previous movies that didn’t do well at the box office, “What determines a film’s business is whether it’s a good picture or a lousy film. So please make good movies if you want a strong box office. Don’t produce mediocre movies and then whine that a boycott ruined them. No! You simply produced a s*** movie. And regardless of whether it cost 100, 200, or 300 crores to make, it’s still a terrible movie that you should be embarrassed of.
Ranvir talked further about the current social media boycott trend against particular movies and celebrities during the same conversation. “I believe that some individuals believe that the film industry is unfair. However, it all takes place in secret, and they are unsure of its precise nature. What we are witnessing is fury in response to that injustice, according to Ranvir.
Soon, Ranvir will appear in the Tiger 3 movie with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The movie is slated to be released the following year. Maneesh Sharma is the film’s director, and Emraan Hashmi also appears.
