10th June 2023, Mumbai: Laxman Utekar’s directorial venture, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, is enjoying a successful run at the box office, surpassing the Rs 40 crore milestone. The film, featuring the talented duo of Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan, tells the story of a couple’s quest to secure a home away from their families. By getting a divorce and availing themselves of the government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), they hope to fulfill their dream of owning a flat.
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke opened to mixed reviews on its first day, amassing around Rs 5.25 crore. However, the film has managed to hold steady, with Day 8 contributing approximately Rs 3.30 crore to its overall domestic box office collection. The movie’s total earnings now stand at an impressive Rs 40.65 crore. On June 9, the film enjoyed an occupancy rate of 13.93 percent. This box office success cements Zara Hatke Zara Bachke as Vicky Kaushal’s second highest-grossing film, following the remarkable Uri: The Surgical Strike. The chemistry between Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan has been a highlight for viewers, resonating with audiences who have witnessed their on-screen romance.
Additionally, the film’s music has struck a chord, finding favor with fans. Set in the charming town of Indore, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke revolves around Kapil (Vicky Kaushal) and Saumya (Sara Ali Khan), two college lovers deeply smitten with each other. After their wedding, the couple faces constant disruptions from Kapil’s family, making it challenging to enjoy private moments. In a bid to escape these intrusions, Kapil and Saumya embark on a journey to acquire a flat through the government’s PMAY scheme. However, their eligibility requires them to undergo a divorce, leading to a series of comedic mishaps and misunderstandings.
