The nationwide release of Avatar 2 has received a positive reception at the box office thus far. India is distinctly divided across northern and southern regions, as seen by the film’s outstanding performance in the latter. Let’s see how the movie did on day 1’s morning occupancy!
James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar has a follow-up called Avatar: The Way Of Water. The anticipation for part 2 is at an all-time high due to the sequel element and the previous part’s amazing positive reception. And it’s obvious that the publicity is influencing sales. The movie even exceeded the 20 crore threshold in advance booking.
Returning to the morning programmes, Avatar 2 has had nationwide average occupancy of 30–35%. Reports from the poorly performing 2D version are also included. However, 3D and higher versions are displaying pretty good results. The occupancy is encouraging given the high screen count of 3800+, and the audience response will only improve after lunch.
South India is responding really well to Avatar 2, whereas North India isn’t doing as well as anticipated. Let’s hoping that as more favourable reviews come in, it grows better.
James Cameron recently shocked the world by declaring that the Avatar series will end if the box office failures persist. In an interview with Total Film, he said, “The market may be telling us we’re done in three months, or we might be semi-done, meaning: ‘OK, let’s conclude the tale inside movie three, and not continue on forever’ if it’s just not lucrative.
