25th June 2023,Mumbai: Adipurush has drawn criticism for its visual effects, speech, and clothes. In response to the Om Raut-directed movie, actor Arun Mandola, who played Lakshmana in Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman and Vighnaharta Ganesha, claimed that “any common person can point out 100 mistakes in the film.”
Prabhas plays Raghav (based on Rama), Kriti Sanon plays Janaki (Sita), Saif Ali Khan plays Lankesh (Ravana), Sunny Singh plays Lakshman, and Devdutta Nage plays Bajrang in the epic Ramayana adaptation Adipurush. Adipurush recently changed some lines after receiving harsh criticism from the public, lawmakers, and even seasoned performers from popular TV shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat.
Arun Mandola reportedly criticised the movie and stated, “There are serious faults in Adipurush. Any regular individual may identify 100 errors in the movie. People have a great deal of regard for the characters in the Ramayana, including Lord Rama, Lakshman, Mata Sita, and Hanuman, and they are evidently miffed that Adipurush’s creators committed so many errors. My TV shows Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman and Vighnaharta Ganesha include speech, outfits, and special effects that are ten times better than those in the film. We are emotionally attached to Shri Ram, Lakshman, Mata Sita, and Hanuman Ji, hence it hurts to witness this. However, we cannot remain silent if someone commits a crime against our gods.”
The actor expressed his disapproval of the movie’s dialogue, saying, “The dialogue in the movie is highly improper for our modern generation. We are exposing kids to rubbish instead of teaching them Sanskrit shlokas. If you lack conviction, it is preferable to refrain from creating anything.”
Since its launch on June 16, Adipurush had a successful first weekend. Poor reviews and controversy over certain dialogues that were deemed inappropriate, such as “marega bete” (you will die son), “bua ka bagicha hain kya” (is this your aunt’s garden), and “jalegi tere baap ki” (your father’s kingdom will burn), caused the collections to drastically decline starting on Monday. The film’s dialogue was later altered by the filmmakers as well.
