Bollywood’s originality has been questioned by filmmaker Abhishek Sharma. The director explained that Bollywood is not actually original, but rather derives from Hollywood. Abhishek first gained notoriety with the release of Tere Bin Laden in 2010, and his most recent film was Ram Setu, which starred Akshay Kumar.
Abhishek was addressing at the present International Film Festival of India in Goa during a session titled In-Conversation session on “Corporate Culture in Film Industry.” Abhishek responded, “Corporatisation is the best thing that occurred to the industry since at least checks are getting encashed now,” when asked about the changes that corporations have made in the film industry.
He continued, “We know the kind of money that came in movies and how it arrived. Pehle kaha se paisa ata tha aur kaise ata hai. It’s a good change. The money invested in movies has become cleaner as a result of corporatization.
Abhishek also discussed the adjustments made at Ad Labs after Anil Ambani’s Reliance joined the company. We paid a star in double digit crores for the first time in early 2006, and now we debate whether celebrities should charge less.
“Bollywood must be an old joke from a journalist. How can you expect them to be innovative if their name is a parody of something else? Are you prepared to be inventive enough to make the suits pay up? Do we really work in an organic sector? We should reflect. We must work together, putting personal gain and loss aside, and consider the industry as a whole “he continued.
