Now that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has objected to the upcoming Bollywood film Pathaan, it is the turn of a Muslim religious body. The Madhya Pradesh Ulema Board claims that the movie offends not just the religious sensibilities of Pathaans but also those of the whole Muslim population.
The president of the MP Ulema Board Syed Anas told the news agency ANI, “The Pathans are one of the most respectable Muslim communities. Not just the Pathans but the entire Muslim community is being defamed in this film. The name of the film is Pathaan and women are seen performing obscene dances in it. Pathans are being portrayed wrongly in the film.”
He said, “The producers should delete the moniker, Pathaan,” in reference to their next move. The character’s name should be changed by Shah Rukh Khan. Do anything you want after that. However, we won’t let the distribution of this movie in India. Both a legal struggle and a FIR will be filed by us. This movie has offended the Muslim community’s feelings. We will not let the release of this movie everywhere in the nation, not only in Madhya Pradesh.
Pathaan, which is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films, will debut on January 25, 2023.
