Ayushmann Khurrana is one of those Bollywood actors whose content driven films are relatable to the public. Amidst the rising stardom of superstar Khans, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar and Kartik Aryan, Ayushmann had carved a unique niche for himself. He enjoys his share of popularity among the public and his acting talent is highly appreciated by his fans and film critics. The public has great confidence in his art of choosing films on unique and thought-provoking ideas.
However, he has been seen less on screen for some time. His last release ‘Dream Girl 2’ was released in August last year. Ayushmann is an actor whom the public wants to see on the big screen 2-3 times a year.
Ayushmann will become a spy
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Ayushmann Khurrana is now going to do a film produced by Karan Johar. The title of this film has not been decided yet, but reports suggest that Ayushmann is going to play the role of a spy in the film. But this film will not be a routine thriller spy drama, but a spy comedy.
Guneet Monga is also a co-producer in this project along with Karan Johar. National Award and Oscar winning producer Guneet Monga’s name is taken with special respect among those who judge the content. The most interesting thing in this project of Ayushmann is that while till now spy films have brought very serious topics, in this, comedy has to be presented along with spy drama, which sounds quite new as an idea. Along with Ayushmann’s fans, the film trade will also pay a lot of attention to this film, because this film can become a turning point for Ayushmann’s career.
Ayushmann— The king of medium budget films
Ayushmann Khurrana is popular for his unique films, and has been very important for the bollywood movie industry business in the pre- Covid era. Ayushmann, who debuted in 2012, had done a total of 14 films in 2020 before the Covid outbreak, and out of these, only three ‘Bewakoofiyaan’, ‘Hawaizaada’ and ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ had failed at the box office. His remaining 11 films were successful at the box office.
‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Dream Girl’ were Ayushmann’s biggest hits with a Net India collection of more than Rs 130 crores and 140 crores respectively. From 2017 to 2020, Ayushmann has given 8 hit films, which in itself is a remarkable feat.
Ayushmann’s success rate is much better than Kartik
To understand Ayushmann’s success in medium budget films, he can be compared with Kartik Aryan. Karthik, who debuted in 2011, a year before Ayushmann, had done 9 films before Covid, out of which 5 were successful at the box office and the remaining 4 proved to be flops. But post-covid the situation changed drastically.
After Covid, Karthik had 3 films out of which two were successful. Of these, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ became a semi-blockbuster by earning Rs 186 crore. Whereas Ayushmann did 5 films after Covid and the first 4 of these flopped.
In such a case, an actor like Ayushmann Khurrana with his solid acting skills and the support of a filmmaker like Karan Johar can do wonders.
