25th April 2023, Mumbai: On May 4, best known as Star Wars Day, the late actress Carrie Fisher will get a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The beloved character of Princess Leia was portrayed by Fisher in the “Star Wars” franchise for almost to 40 years before she passed away in December 2016 from a heart attack.
Fisher’s star, the 2,754th in the category of Motion Pictures on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, will be unveiled by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce close to the famed El Capitan Theatre.
Fans will be over the moon to learn that Carrie Fisher will receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame. “Carrie will share this historic sidewalk with her ‘Star Wars’ co-stars and fellow Walk of Famers Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford,” said Ana Martinez, the producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “I’m happy to add that her star is directly across the street from the star of her legendary mother Debbie Reynolds and only a few feet away from the star of Mark Hamill!”
Billie Lourd, the sole child of Fisher and a veteran of the “Star Wars” series, will accept the star on her mother’s behalf.
On Twitter, Hamill, who co-starred with Fisher as Luke Skywalker, praised the award, writing that it was “long overdue” and “so well-deserved.”
Carrie Fisher, who was born to Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, had her acting debut in the movie “Shampoo” before landing one of the most recognisable roles in science fiction. She performed the character of Princess Leia in the 1977–1983 “Star Wars” original trilogy before revisiting it for the subsequent trilogy in 2015 and again in 2017.
The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters, and When Harry Met Sally, among others, all featured her as the lead.
She additionally had multiple television appearances and received an Emmy nomination for “30 Rock.”Fisher also wrote several best-selling novels, including “Shockaholic,” “Delusions of Grandma,” “Surrender the Pink,” “The Best Awful,” and “Postcards from the Edge.”
Her mother suffered a stroke at her home one day after Fisher died, at age 84.
