The Dhoom franchise, known for featuring big stars, had John Abraham and his impressive bike in the first instalment, Hrithik Roshan with his various disguises in the second, and Aamir Khan in an unprecedented role in the third. As the fourth instalment is anticipated, rumours about the cast are abound, with some suggesting that Shah Rukh Khan may play the lead villain. Meanwhile, a new subject of conversation has emerged about John Abraham potentially making a comeback to the Dhoom franchise.
According to a reliable insider who spoke with media, John Abraham’s impressive performance as the main villain in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathan earlier this year caught the attention of many and created quite a stir. Therefore, it would not be surprising if Yash Raj Films decides to cast him again in a negative role for the upcoming Dhoom instalment. The insider revealed that John has been spotted attending daily meetings at YRF over the past few days, which could indicate that there is some truth to these rumours. If any decisions have been made, it is likely to be announced during one of these meetings.
The source also provided an interesting theory as to why John Abraham might be making a comeback to the Dhoom franchise, saying, “If you recall, the ending of the first Dhoom film left John’s character’s fate ambiguous. It was unclear whether he had died or managed to escape. This open-ended conclusion could be used as a starting point to bring him back into the series.” While it is likely that the new film will have a self-contained plot, it is possible that a flashback sequence could be incorporated to explain what happened to John’s character during the time gap between the first and fourth instalments
Although the speculation about John Abraham’s return to the Dhoom franchise for Dhoom 4 is gaining momentum, there has not been an official confirmation regarding this matter yet.
