11th May 2023, Mumbai: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a popular television show known for its comedy and family-centric plot. Despite gaining appreciation from the audience for its cast’s performances, the show has been surrounded by controversies in the past few months. The latest scandal to hit the headlines involves Jennifer Mistry, who plays Roshan Singh Sodi on the show, leaving due to allegations of sexual assault against Asit Kumarr Modi, the show’s producer.
After Jennifer Mistry accused the show’s producer of sexual assault, another cast member, Mandar Chandwadkar, shared his opinion on the matter during a recent interview. He disagreed with Jennifer’s claims that the show has a “male chauvinistic” environment, stating that it is a happy place with a healthy atmosphere, which is why the show has been running for so long.
According to reports, Jennifer Mistry alleged that Asit Kumarr Modi made sexual advances towards her on multiple occasions. She initially ignored his statements due to fear of losing work opportunities, but she eventually reached a breaking point and decided to take legal action against Modi, Sohail Ramani (Project Head), and Jatin Bajaj (executive producer). Jennifer claimed that the crew forcibly stopped her on set and prevented her from leaving, which led her to file a complaint with the authorities a month ago.
Asit Kumarr Modi, the accused, denied all allegations made against him and stated that he would take legal action against Jennifer Mistry. He refuted the accusations and claimed that they were baseless. The production team has not made any official statement regarding the controversy, but it is expected that an investigation will be conducted to determine the truth of the matter.
