4 July 2023, Mumbai: In the midst of the monsoon season, there’s a certain charm in indulging in the first rain showers and savoring delicious food with loved ones. Despite the inconvenience of venturing outside during this time, the rains hold a special romantic allure. Actor Pawan Chopra eagerly awaits the arrival of the monsoon each year, finding joy and beauty in the freshness and greenery that envelops everything outside his window.
For Pawan, the monsoon season is an opportunity to witness a natural light and sound show as the sun and clouds play hide and seek. He particularly enjoys taking drives outside Mumbai, relishing the scenic beauty of destinations like Kashid, Mahaad, or Goa. The experience of driving amidst the lush surroundings never fails to captivate him.
However, shooting outdoors can become a challenge during the monsoon. Pawan recalls instances where heavy rain disrupted their shooting schedules, extending the time required to complete projects. In his previous work on daily soap operas, the monsoon brought additional challenges like traffic jams and commuting to waterlogged studios. For Pawan, the true essence of the monsoon lies in the comfort of home, indulging in music, relishing hot and tasty food, or embarking on a long drive away from the chaos. Shooting during this season is something he prefers to avoid.
In bustling cities like Mumbai, traffic jams worsen during the monsoon, causing inconvenience for residents. Pawan shares his agreement, expressing his puzzlement at the proximity of residential and commercial spaces to the roads. The presence of slums and numerous establishments contribute to the feeling of blockades everywhere. These issues become even more pronounced during the rainy season.
While staying indoors and enjoying the rain from the cozy confines of home can be delightful, venturing outside requires extra care to protect one’s hair and skin. Pawan emphasizes the importance of wearing suitable clothing and staying dry. He prioritizes personal hygiene and avoids eating out, as a simple mistake could lead to fever or stomach ailments. Pawan cherishes childhood memories of the monsoon, reminiscing about walks on their farm, encountering snakes and colorful insects after the rain, and relishing homemade pakoras while basking in the rain’s beauty. The monsoon, according to him, revitalizes, energizes, and breathes new life, infusing creativity and vibrant colors into one’s existence.
When asked about his favorite monsoon song, Pawan mentions “Rimjhim Gire Sawan.” More than the song itself, he is captivated by the visual imagery of Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee holding hands and walking in the rain. This beautiful image remains etched in his mind, evoking a sense of nostalgia and admiration during every monsoon.
