3 July 2023, Mumbai: As the monsoon season arrives, there is an undeniable charm in indulging in the first rain of the season and relishing favorite food alongside loved ones. Despite the reluctance to venture out during this season, there is a certain romance associated with the rain. Charrul Malik, a former news anchor turned actor, shares her personal enjoyment of the monsoon season.
For Charrul, the arrival of the monsoon brings relief from the unbearable humidity and heat. She warmly welcomes the rain and admits to having a genuine love for it. While she doesn’t follow any specific traditions, Charrul emphasizes the importance of using repellents to ward off insects that tend to appear during the monsoon season.
However, shooting outdoors becomes challenging during this time. Charrul’s set is located in Naigaon, making commuting extremely difficult. The main challenge arises from traffic congestion, both during monsoons and throughout the year. Water-logging is a common issue that poses challenges for everyone. Recalling severe instances like the 2005 July 26 floods, Charrul highlights the need for the government to find appropriate solutions.
While it is enjoyable to appreciate the rain from the comfort of one’s home, it is essential to take care of one’s hair and skin when stepping outside. Charrul emphasizes the need for special care during this season. Excessive moisture can affect the skin, and she advises using less oily products on the face and limiting the intake of heavy and oily foods. Wearing waterproof makeup and avoiding wetting the hair in the rain is also recommended. Charrul personally prefers wearing cotton clothes that dry easily and believes that warm colors bring positive vibes.
Reflecting on her cherished childhood memories from Chandigarh, Charrul fondly recalls the spacious houses and the delightful scent of the water-filled environment. She and her sister would gleefully play in the rain, enjoying the pure bliss it brought. Indulging in chai-pakora sessions while sitting on the veranda with chairs added to the joyful experiences. However, in Mumbai, where houses are smaller, the same nostalgic feel is absent.
When asked about her favorite monsoon song and the reason behind it, Charrul reveals her fondness for “Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si” and “Pyaar Hua Ekraar Hua.” These songs hold a special place in her heart.
