13 June 2023, Mumbai: Actress Monika Bhadoriya, who has accused the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producers of misconduct, has now hinted that Disha Vakani may have left the programme for reasons other than merely salary problems. Disha was the first well-known person to leave the well-liked family comedy programme. As Bawri, the love interest of Baga, Monika played the part.
Several performers have departed Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah over the past several months, and a few of them have given poor treatment, harassment, and unpaid bills as some of the reasons for their departure. Shailesh Lodha quit the show earlier this year, a number of years after Disha Vakani took her pregnancy leave (which seemingly went on).
When asked by Bollywood Bubble if Disha too experienced poor treatment on the shoot, Monika replied, “I don’t want to remark on her. Maybe. Oh my goodness, aisa bura laga hi hoga. There must be something, like in “Aapko koi accha pay kar raha hai aur bula raha hai baar baar aap nahi aana chahte ho toh yehi reason honge na aur kya ho sakta hai.” If someone keeps calling and offers you good money, but you still don’t want to answer, then…Why would you do that otherwise?”
When Disha Vakani’s character Dayaben’s fame peaked in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, she took a sabbatical from the show. In 2017, she gave birth to her daughter Stitu Padia and went on maternity leave. She continued delaying the show rather than returning to it. For several years, rumours and theories persisted, and Asit Modi didn’t finally announce Disha’s departure from the show until last year.
During a previous interview with the Hindustan Times, Monika Bhadoriya referred to her time spent on the show’s sets as “hell.” “They would call me early in the morning for a shoot after I spent the night in the hospital. They would compel me to attend even if I protested that I wasn’t in the correct frame of mind. The worst part was that I would wait after showing up for a shoot since I had nothing to do.
