MATCH SUMMARY:
MI won the toss and opted bowl which didn’t proved fruitful at all for the hosts and CSK managed to score 206/4 at the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Quick fire game by Shivam Dube (66) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (69) along with Thala Dhoni’s short but impactful cameo of 20 in just 4 balls. From the MI’s squad only Rohit Sharma showed some intent and made his century after 12 long years in IPL in 63 balls. Rest of the MI team scored only 74 in 57 balls. Junior Malinga “Matheesha Pathirana” scalped important wickets of Kishan, SKY, Tilak Verma and Romario shepherd sealing game for CSK and was awarded with Man of the Match award.
MATCH STATS:
This was only for the 1st and last time these two champion teams were playing against each other in the league stage of the Tournament. CSK have managed their first away win in the tournament. Matheesha Pathirana became youngest bowler in IPL history to get 4-wicket haul for CSK
POINTS TABLE:
After the Sunday double header points table showed some movement with KKR maintaining their second spot with healthy run rate of +1.688. CSK moved to 3rd spot also with a good run rate after 20 runs win. While LSG moved down to 5th spot getting equal wins and losses in 6 matches. MI slipped down to 8th spot but have an average run rate. So if they could get back to their winning track it would be easy for them to qualify for the playoffs. RR is topping the table with 10 points and need couple of more wins to qualify for the playoffs.
TODAYS BATTLE:
Monday i.e. 15 April 2024 will be Southern Derby at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru where they will facing with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 30th match of the tournament. SRH will be confident after winning their previous matches against CSK and PBKS. While RCB side is a bit brittle they have managed to win only one match in the tournament and is currently at the bottom of table. SRH will look to win to improve their chance of qualification while RCB will be thinking to get lost momentum and get back on the track
