15th March, Mumbai: A YouTuber in India has been arrested after a video surfaced online showing him throwing currency notes on a busy road in Gurugram, a city located in the northern part of the country.
The video, which was uploaded on the YouTuber’s channel, shows him driving a car and throwing money out of the window as pedestrians scramble to grab the notes. The video went viral on social media, sparking outrage among many people who saw it as a display of wealth and arrogance.
The YouTuber, whose name is Joravar Singh Kalsi and his friend Lucky Kamboj is known for social media influencer.
As a video was shared on social media showing them tossing cash on the road, police in Gurugram detained YouTuber Joravar Singh Kalsi and his friend Lucky Kamboj. The money-chasing sequence from “a movie,” in which Shahid Kapoor and KK Menon starre web series Farzi. On March 2, the event happened on the DLF Golf Course Road underpass in Gurugram. They have been accused of reckless driving by the police.
Lucky Kamboj, dressed in a mask, is shown in the video throwing money from the trunk of a white Baleno as Joravar Singh Kalsi operates the vehicle in an attempt to mimic the incident from the web series Farzi. That was presumably arranged to increase social media likes. They shared the video on their social media accounts, but it was eventually removed.
After the video went viral, the police launched an investigation and identified the YouTuber as the person in the video. He was subsequently arrested and charged with “public nuisance” and “outraging public decency.”
Mr. Kalsi said to the police that “it was just a performance” and that the money they were using was fake. The police assert that required measures should be done to punish those who don’t care about the lives of others, even though the parts of the FIR against the two are subject to bail.
