12th June 2023, Mumbai: In an exciting development on Monday, Bollywood actress Kajol and the makers of her highly anticipated web series, “The Trial – Pyaar Kanoon Dhokha,” released the much-awaited trailer. This courtroom drama marks Kajol’s debut in the OTT space and is set to stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar. The two-minute video provided fans with an in-depth glimpse into Kajol’s character, Noyonika Sengupta, in this compelling series.
“The Trial” revolves around Noyonika Sengupta, a housewife who finds herself compelled to return to her career as a lawyer following her husband’s widely publicised scandal, which lands him behind bars. Directed by Suparn Verma, the series explores the complexities of Noyonika’s life as she navigates the challenges of the legal profession and grapples with personal dilemmas.
Sharing her thoughts on the series, Kajol expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “The complexities are what defines a character to me, and the layers surrounding Noyonika are what spoke to me when this role first came over. Noyonika felt personal; I instantly felt protective about her, and that reaffirmed my faith in choosing ‘The Trial – Pyaar Kanoon Dhokha’ on Disney+ Hotstar to be my first step into the long format.”
Kajol further praised the director, Suparn Verma, for crafting a world where vulnerable characters confront the harsh realities of life. She believes that the audience will connect with and empathise with Noyonika as she makes challenging choices, just as Kajol did while portraying the character.
Following the revelation, Kajol promptly unveiled the official poster and her first look from “The Trial – Pyaar Kanoon Dhokha” on Instagram and Twitter. In her caption, she expressed determination, stating, “The tougher the trial, the harder you come back!” She also invited viewers to catch the trailer for the courtroom drama, which is set to premiere on June 12, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
