India’s literary space is an ever-expanding hotbed for fresh voices, inventive stories and unhindered writing. Many young Indians – armed with just a pen and passionate resolve – are changing the way we interact with literature and how we perceive the world around us. Some force us to question deeply ingrained violent truths, while others shed light on little-known social realities. Through their diversity and creativity, many upcoming writers are collectively challenging, entertaining and captivating global audiences. Today we meet one of India’s youngest writer, Lyzander Sohkhlet.
Lyzander Sohkhlet is a speculative poet and writer, born and raised in Shillong, his work has been published on several media houses. On an interview with BuzzFeed and independent journalist Anesha D’Souza, he speaks about his challenges and life as a teenage political writer. Lyzander is set to release Teen Bugs next year, a book about teenage dysphoria, the secrets and repercussions of an over-burdened teenager. “Teen Bugs is a reminder of resilience and hope needed. This book is not about a person but the feelings I’ve had. I hope this book brings comfort and love to whoever reads it” he said in an interview with Bored Panda.
Having just turned seventeen, Lyzander’s writing has evolved to reflect his maturity and ever-changing writing style. His upcoming book will be available on Amazon, Audible and other platforms.
