Kuwaarjeet, alias Pransh Chopraa, became popular after he acted as a Taliban commander in the 2020 film Torbaaz. The movie introduced him to the Bollywood film industry. In the film, his fans enjoyed his performance alongside Sanjay Dutt and other leading actors in the Hindi film world.
Apart from his acting skills, Kuwaarjeet attracts people towards him with his tough, well-built physique and the charming looks of an Indian film hero. He was also seen in several advertisements.
Apart from being a born actor, Kuwaarjeet is a dynamic young man who is passionate about life. He has a long way to go, because of his determined nature.
Who can forget Shahrukh Khan’s dialogue in the film Om Shanti Om: “Picture Abhi Khatam nahi hui mere dost (The movie has not ended now my friend).” Kuwaarjeet has just started realizing his dream of becoming a tremendously successful Bollywood actor.
The Journey of a rising star
Acting runs in Kuwaarjeet’s blood as he was born into a family of artists on 26th July 1990. His paternal grandfather, U.N. Chopra (Omiji), was a filmmaker, while his great-grandfather, Padmabhushan Krishna Chander, was an author who also produced films.
But despite his family connections, Kuwaarjeet is a self-made Bollywood actor, who started his career in the Indian film industry from the ground up.
Kuwaarjeet’s passion for acting began when he was a youngster. As a member of the theatrical club, he took part in school plays and skits throughout his youth. He was president of the college cultural club and competed in skits and dance contests at several college fests around the country, garnering multiple accolades and medals. Mr. Mridaksh, an inter-college competition in IIT Kanpur reported by Hindustan Times and Sahara channel, with submissions from every major institution in the country, got him his first film offer. But, he rejected that offer as he understood the importance of education. Kuwaarjeet had yet to complete college and did not want to drop out like many Bollywood actors.
After completing his college graduation, Kuwaarjeet began his professional training as a theatrical artist in Delhi under Rang Manch group’s Veena Mathur ji, where he featured in several social satires. During his educational journey, Kuwaarjeet moved to Lucknow to pursue engineering after going to school in Delhi. He also received an MBA from Loyola College in Chennai. But, his MBA couldn’t stop him from pursuing his first love, which was acting. His passion for movies and dream of becoming a film director brought him to Mumbai. There he received professional training from Barry John, the renowned British-Indian theatre director.
Kuwaarjeet then joined a theatre group, where he honed his skills under the mentorship of Gulzar, the famed poet, and writer.
Kuwaarjeet then traveled to Pondicherry to study with the Adishakti group, where he learned how to encourage emotional and psychological expression through breath regulation and rhythmic use. Thereafter, he joined the Mumbai-based theatre company Essay Communications, where he acquired experience working on works by Javed Siddiqui and Gulzar alongside Mr. Salim Arif.
He also created satirical performances throughout Mumbai, from Prithvi to NCPA, and toured the country, performing in places like Delhi, Kamani Auditorium, and Hyderabad, to mention a few.
Kuwaarjeet performed well across Mumbai, ranging from Prithvi to NCPA. He also performed at Delhi, Kamani Auditorium, and Hyderabad, among several others.
He made his Bollywood debut in 2020 with the film Torbaaz. Kuwaarjeet co-starred in the film with Sanjay Dutt, Nargis Fakhri, Rahul Dev, and other luminaries from the Bollywood film industry.
But, despite being in a movie with such industry giants, Kuwaarjeet did generate a tremendous effect provoking a question in the mind of spectators “Was Torbaaz his first movie”?
Nonetheless, Kuwaarjeet did feature in the 2013 short film ‘The Bridge’. He worked in the film along with a slew of A-listers, including Demian Bichir, Emily Rios, Ted Levine, and Matthew Lillard.
Achievements
Kuwaarjeet Chopraa received a nomination for his performance in the short silent film ‘The Bridge’ at the Monaco Charity Film Festival. The film was directed by Sunny Verma, a well-known director, and was released in 2013. Kuwaarjeet went on to make The Evidence, a short film starring A. Shital.
Kuwaarjeet’s phenomenal film career was complimented by a few Venus Records tracks. He was seen in Cinthol and Chevy Cruz commercials.
The kind of acclaim he got for Torbaaz is nothing less than an achievement for Kuwaarjeet. That’s because many of his fans applauded Kuwaarjeet on IMDb and Netflix when it was released on December 11th.
