Al Pacino, a Hollywood legend, has long enjoyed his fame, but he also experienced some difficult times before becoming big in the film industry. In 1961, Pacino had a run-in with the law and spent three days in jail. The actor, who had not yet made his film debut, was 20 at the time of the occurrence, which is hardly ever mentioned.
The roles he played In films like The Godfather, Scent of a Woman, Heat, The Irishman, and Scarface made Al Pacino a household name.
The 83-year-old actor has won the prestigious Golden Globe Award, the Academy Award, and the BAFTA Award.
Speaking about Al Pacino being imprisoned, the incident, according to an Instagram post, occurred in 1961 when the actor was detained on suspicion of attempting to commit robbery. Pacino’s mug shot was also made public at the time. According to sources, on the evening of January 7, 1961, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, a police car stopped a suspicious vehicle that had been continually circling the block. Three men wearing black masks and gloves were reportedly inside the car when the police arrived. The police discovered a loaded 38-calibre pistol during their search.
Al Pacino was among the three guys who were accused of concealing a weapon and taken to the police station. The other two were identified as Bruce Cohen and Vincent J. Calcagni.
Additionally, it was claimed that their bond was set at $2,000. None of the three, however, was able to make the payment and was imprisoned. Pacino reportedly stayed behind bars for three days.
Additionally, it is thought that the arresting officer found Al Pacino to be ‘very helpful’ when conducting the questioning. The policeman also disclosed that Pacino and the other two men were en route to a job as actors. Additionally, they wanted the concealed gun as a prop for the audition. Later, the charges were dropped.
Al Pacino had early success with The Godfather in 1972, which ultimately served as the catalyst for the beginning of a nearly 50-year acting career.
