10th May 2023, Mumbai: The first single from FIFTY FIFTY, “The Beginning: Cupid,” which was published on February 24th, featured the title song, “Cupid,” which debuted at number 19 on Billboard’s most recent chart, which was released on May 8th. After debuting on the chart at position 100 on April 1, it increased to position 94 in the following week, position 85 in the following week, position 60 in the following week, position 50 in the following week, and position 41 in the following week.
This number demonstrates the continued local popularity. The majority of K-pop girl groups’ records have also been surpassed. The ‘fourth generation girl group’ firstly shattered every record listed on the Billboard chart. After making their debut on November 18 of last year with the release of their first mini-album, “THE FIFTY,” FIFTY FIFTY reached the “Hot 100” chart around four months later. This beats the previous record held by the girl group NewJeans, whose single “Ditto” entered the “Hot 100” six months after its release. They became the first K-pop group to join the chart after their debut in record time thanks to this.
It outperformed NewJeans’s ‘OMG’ record of six weeks even for the longest time. Prior to last week, FIFTY FIFTY and BLACKPINK were deadlocked for second place in this category with their pre-released song “Pink Venom” off their second regular album, “BORN PINK,” but FIFTY FIFTY ultimately won. It wasn’t too far off when you considered the full girl group. The K-pop girl group single that has now spent the longest time on the “Hot 100” is “Ice Cream” (2020), a BLACKPINK and American pop diva Selena Gomez collaboration. It spent eight weeks on this list, peaking at number thirteen.
