21st March, Mumbai: According to Ben Affleck, DC Studios President James Gunn is “not interested” in having him direct a potential feature picture for the studio. In response to rumours that he will be in charge of helming the following DC Studios film, Ben Affleck has finally spoken up. Ben recently denied rumours that he would be directing and acting in a Batman movie, saying that he has no interest in doing so, especially with James Gunn and Peter Safran, the current CEOs of DC Studios. Ben might potentially take over directing duties for a new movie, according to James Gunn, who recently remarked on Twitter: “Meeted with Ben yesterday exactly because he wanted to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the perfect project.” Ben has previously helmed a number of movies, including Argo (2016) and Live By Night (2016) (2012).
Ben had initially intended to direct a single Batman film in which he would concentrate on developing The Batman’s reputation as the best detective in the world. However, he was unable to choose just one strong script, so he handed the reins to filmmaker Matt Reeves. Ben was questioned about whether he would helm a superhero film for the studio in his most recent cover story for The Hollywood Reporter. I wouldn’t direct something for the [James] Gunn DC, he replied.
Without a doubt. Nothing I’ve got against James Gunn. He’s a kind person and will no doubt perform a fantastic job. Simply said, I wouldn’t want to intervene and direct them in that manner. That doesn’t interest me. In terms of DC characters, a new Superman film is slated to be released in 2025. The film, Superman: Legacy, will be written by James Gunn and will centre on a much younger Superman. The Brave and the Bold, a new Batman and Robin movie, and Supergirl: World of Tomorrow are other projects James Gunn and Peter Safran are working on for the DC Universe.
