15 August 2023, Mumbai: Virat Kohli, the renowned cricketer, has taken a stand against false reports regarding his plans to build a cricket pitch at his Alibaug farmhouse. Virat and his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, reportedly acquired an eight-acre property in Zirad village, sparking discussions. Amidst his break from the T20I series between India and the West Indies, Kohli visited the construction site in Maharashtra.

Reports had circulated that the power couple intended to construct a cricket pitch at their opulent Alibaug farmhouse. However, Kohli refuted these claims on social media. Using his Instagram Stories, he shared, “Bachpan se jo akhbaar Padha hai, wo bhi fake news chaapne lage ab,” which translates to “The newspaper that we are reading since childhood is also publishing fake news these days.”Virat Kohli Talks on reports about his social media earnings.
Kohli’s response comes in response to a media outlet’s assertion that he wanted a cricket pitch on his lavish farmhouse. With over 255 million followers on Instagram, Kohli is among the most followed athletes on the platform. He had reportedly purchased his second property in Alibaug last year, a 2,000 sq ft villa for which he paid INR 6 crore and a stamp duty of INR 36 lakh.
Kohli’s preparation for Asia Cup
Kohli also recently clarified that reports about his social media earnings, which suggested he earned around INR 11 crore for promotional posts on Instagram, were untrue. He stated, “While I am grateful and indebted to all that I’ve received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true.” Currently, Kohli is preparing for the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup. In his previous white-ball assignment against the West Indies in the Caribbean, Kohli did not bat for Team India, led by Rohit Sharma.
