30 October 2023, Mumbai: Tina Datta has solidified her presence in entertainment with her acting skills. Although renowned in Hindi television, few know she began as a child artist in Bengali cinema, collaborating with industry veterans from a young age.

In a special chat with Pinkvilla, Tina Datta reminisced about her early Mumbai days and her Bengali film stint. She featured in Rituparno Ghosh’s “Chokher Bali” with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and portrayed young Lolita in “Parineeta.” Describing her experience with the Bollywood icon, she revealed, “She’s so pretty, she is freaking pretty. You can’t take your eyes off her, she’s like that. Mein ayese baithi toh, I was awestruck, I kept staring at her.”

Tina Datta explained her casting at a young age, mentioning she was in Calcutta when the opportunity arose. For “Chokher Bali,” Rituparno Ghosh was casting and invited her for an audition. Not an audition, per say, kind off a look test. And I went for the meeting, and it just happened.”
Discussing her collaboration with Vidya Balan in “Parineeta,” the ex-Bigg Boss 16 contestant revealed, “I did an album with Vidya ma’am, it was called Kisson Ka Chadar by Shubha Mudgal. It was a beautiful song, Pradip da had directed it. Then they were casting for Parineeta and they called me, and I was like, ‘Woww, okay.’”
Reflecting on her time in Calcutta… she shared, “When I was in Calcutta, it was not that I had to audition, knock on the doors, and all, things were just falling in places back to back.”
Tina Datta mentioned she didn’t meet Aishwarya Rai Bachchan afterward but encountered Vidya Balan at an event. To her surprise, Vidya remembered her, and they discussed their filming experiences in Kolkata.
