25th October 2023, Mumbai: Durga Puja, Bengal’s much-anticipated celebration, ended yesterday. Sindoor Khela is an important rite performed on the final day of the Puja, Dashami. Married women wish Maa Durga farewell as she prepares to depart her paternal house with her children. They smear vermillion on each other and pray for their husbands’ lives to be prosperous.
Heartfelt Bijoya Wishes: Rupali Ganguly, Ishita Dutta, and Smriti Irani Spread Festive Joy
Many stars in the industry returned to their roots to celebrate Vijaya Dashami in the most traditional way possible, taking part in sindoor khela and dhunuchi naach. Rupali Ganguly, Smriti Irani, Sumona Chakravarti, Ishita Dutta, and other actresses looked stunning in traditional white sarees with crimson borders as they took part in Sindoor Khela. They resorted to social media to share their celebratory photos.
Rupali Ganguly shared a video of herself seated in front of Maa Durga’s idol, coated with sindoor. Folding her hands, she wished her fans and followers ‘shubho bijoya.’

Ishita Dutta, a new mother, posted a video in which she is seen applying sindoor on husband Vatsal Seth’s cheeks, who also applies vermillion on his wife’s cheeks and chins. The duo looks stunning in traditional attire. The video was shared by the actress with the caption, “Sidoor Khela, a celebration of womanhood and unity, on this auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami seeking Durga Maa’s blessings and guidance.”
Divya Agarwal, an actress, also shared a glimpse of images from sindoor khela celebrations at one of her friends’ homes. In the caption, she stated, “The family I never thought I’ll have. What a beautiful day. Mata Rani sabko khush rakhe.”
Yesterday, Sumona Chakravarti shared her festive look on Instagram before joining the celebrations. Friends posted videos of her joyfully dancing to dhaak beats. In her latest post, she shared pictures, one displaying her face adorned with red vermillion. The caption reads, “Bijoya’r priti o shubechha. I’m not a religious person at all but Durga … this feels different. There is a bond. A very personal, intimate bond. She makes me vulnerable & yet resilient. The only one to make me bow down to her. It’s her energy that I feel. Thank you Maa for your love & blessings always. Aasche bochor abar hobe! Shubho Bijoya.”
Actress Smriti Irani posted a picture before joining Sindoor Khela, captioned “Ready for Sindoor Khela.” Later, her Instagram story featured a photo with her cheeks and forehead adorned in red sindoor, accompanied by the caption, “Bijoya pronam to all elders.”
