Review: It is often being said that movies act as the mirror of the society. It often also shows us the ugly faces of our society. Film Dashmi also holds a mirror to our society which reflects some uneasy truths about crime, justice and morality. Dashmi is not only a story about victory over evil, but it is one such important film which makes you introspect about the kind of society we live in and talks and raises questions about our moral responsibilities towards the society which is deeply rotten in many ways.
Dashmi not only focuses on bringing the powerful rapist of minor girls to justice in an extra judicial manner but it also raises many persistent questions currently bothering our society and its people. For this, an enthusiastic and deeply disturbed bunch of people form a vigilante group so that they could teach a lesson to such leaches living among us. It propagates the idea that anyhow perpetrators of such heinous crimes need to be brought to justice. While doing so, the cat and mouse game between the vigilantes and the law enforcing agency ensues which makes the film more interesting.
Shantanu Anant Tambe is not new to filmmaking as he is known to direct few Mararthi films before venturing into the world of Hindi cinema with this one. It is needless to say that as a writer and director he has done a commendable job. He has not only directed the film but also written the story, screenplay and dialogues of the movies and his efforts as a writer and director are praiseworthy. Be it his sharp writing or his powerful and poignant story telling, Shantanu Anant Tambe shines as a filmmaker. He makes sure that you are hooked till the end of the film and film impacts you in a right and powerful ways.
As actors Vardhan Puri, Gaurav Sareen, Ankit Khera, Dalljiet Kaur, Rajesh Jais, Charul Malik, Khushi Hajare, Manoj Singh Tiger, Sanjay Pandey, Ram Naresh Diwakar, Tirth Bhanushali, Aisshwarya Anishka, Swati Semwal, Shabaaz Badi all of them have done justice to their characters and elevates the story telling to greater heights. The credit must also go for the casting director who has aptly cast all the actors not only in the principal roles but for the smallest of the characters too.
Dashmi emphasizes on the need to kill the new age Ravanas who make easy prey of minors girls by raping them and scarring them for life. Dashmi is quite a disturbing but a must watch movie which tells us to reflect up on our conduct and take collective moral responsibilities as a society. Dashmi is an unusual and riveting drama which needs to be seen on the big screen.
