19 June 2023, Mumbai: In a recent interview that has sent shockwaves throughout the film industry, acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj dropped a bombshell by revealing his plan to retire from filmmaking after directing ten projects. The news has left fans and the industry pondering the future of the talented filmmaker.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his impressive filmography, has quickly risen to prominence in the South Indian film industry. Having made his directorial debut with “Maanagaram” in 2017, he received widespread acclaim and went on to deliver hits like “Kaithi” and “Master,” starring Thalapathy Vijay. His unique storytelling style and ability to craft intense action sequences have earned him a dedicated fan base. The director’s decision to quit the industry after ten films comes as a surprise to many. In his own words, Kanagaraj expressed, “I have no plans to do a lot of films in my career. I just came out to try cinema. LCU Concept only with the help of Producers, so I like to be faithful to them and all actor fans. I will do ten films and quit!!”
Currently, Lokesh Kanagaraj is working on his highly anticipated project titled “Leo,” which is set to be another addition to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The gangster drama stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, and it marks their second collaboration after the massive success of “Master.” Joining them is the talented actress Trisha Krishnan, who will play the female lead. The film also boasts a star-studded cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Arjun Das, and others.
As Lokesh Kanagaraj’s fan base eagerly awaits the release of “Leo,” there is a sense of bittersweet anticipation, knowing that it may be one of the director’s last projects.
