4th May 2023: Rising actor and member of the K-pop boy band GOT7, Park Jinyoung has made the decision to perform his civic duty as an adult male citizen of the Republic of Korea. The actor’s agency, BH Entertainment, shared a message on May 4 announcing that his enlistment date would be May 8, the following Monday, and informing his fans that there would be no formal send-off for the artist. This was just a few days before the start of his duty. He will become the second member of GOT7 to enlist for service after leader Jay B, who did so earlier this year as a member of the public service.
Park Jinyoung’s acting and solo singing careers are managed by BH Entertainment, who also issued a note on social media confirming the date of Park Jinyoung’s enlistment. They stated the following: “On May 8, Park Jinyoung will report for basic military training to discharge his commitment to his country. We kindly beg for your understanding since there won’t be a separate official event and that he will be arriving in secret out of concern for his safety as well as the other families’ and loved ones. Since this is a private occasion for many families, we kindly ask that fans of Jinyoung refrain from going to the website. As always, we really appreciate your support as Jinyoung completes his military obligations and returns in good health and happiness.”
Park Jinyoung, who was born on September 22, 1994, first received training from JYP Entertainment before making his professional debut as half of the GOT7 group JJ Project with JB (now known as Jay B). The two later joined other trainees to make their debut in 2014 as the septet GOT7. Park Jinyoung has since embarked on a number of acting roles and is diligently establishing his filmography.
On January 18, Jinyoung successfully celebrated his tenth anniversary of his debut by releasing his solo album, “Chapter 0: With.” He most recently appeared at the 59th Baeksang Artist Awards, when he and IU shared the Popularity Award and received the most votes. Additionally, he won the coveted Best New Actor award for his performance in the movie “Christmas Carol,” promising to return with an enhanced performance in the future.
