The movie ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ starring Salman Khan and Pooja Hegde has been facing criticism after its release. One of the main reasons for the criticism is the usage of nursery rhymes in its song ‘Let’s Dance Chotu Motu’. The song, which is sung by Salman Khan, Devi Sri Prasad, Neha Bhasin, and Honey Singh, has been touted as the ‘kids’ anthem’. The film has received average to poor reviews from both the audience and critics who have watched it.
The Early Child Association (ECA) has condemned the use of nursery rhymes in the song. Dr Swati Popat Vats, the president of ECA, has stated that parents and schools are trying to move away from such “senseless age-old rhymes”. She further added that the fact that Salman Khan has a huge fan following among children means that these “senseless rhymes” are going to be played by moms as they feed their children and in birthday parties.
According to reports, ECA has written an open letter to the stakeholders of the film industry, urging movie makers to move away from the “relentless” and “senseless” inclusion of outdated nursery songs or glorifying it to have many hear their songs. The song ‘Let’s Dance Chotu Motu’ comprises rhymes such as Twinkle Twinkle, ‘Mary had a Little Lamb’, and ‘Humpty Dumpty’ among others.
ECA’s president, Dr Swati Popat Vats, has expressed disappointment in the glorification of such “senseless age-old rhymes” at a time when parents and schools are trying to move away from them. She has also highlighted the fact that Salman Khan has a huge fan following among children, which means that the song will be played at birthday parties and while feeding children, further perpetuating the use of these outdated rhymes.
